Thailand has long inspired adventurers. From the enchanting islands to the expansive mainland, religious iconography to ultra-modernity, it’s a country of real contrasts, and one that will always impress any traveller, with the northern regions amongst the most captivating. Beautiful scenery, fascinating indigenous cultures, and aeons of history all make the Ancient Kingdom of Lanna a must-see when you’re touring South East Asia, and as such to experience this magical place from the comfort of a truly luxurious train is an opportunity not to be missed.

Itinerary

Day One
Arrive at Bangkok Station in the mid-afternoon to board the Eastern and Oriental Express train. Once settled into your cabin the journey will commence, departing late-afternoon. After spending some time getting acquainted with your home from home, dress for dinner, which will comprise an exquisite dinner made up of local specialties. After eating, why not head to the prestigious Bar Car to socialise with the other passengers, before retiring to your cabin, which has now been converted into a cosy bedroom.

Day Two
Arriving into Lampang in the early-morning, a traditional horse-drawn carriage will be waiting to pick you up and take you on to Ban Sao Nak, the House of Many Pillars. Brunch will then be served on the train, before the route takes you on to Chiang Mai, where there will be a choice of excursions available (full details of which are given whilst on board the Express).

Following your full day of sightseeing, head back to the cabin as the train departs Chiang Mai, giving you enough time to change for yet another indulgent dinner on board, after which you are free to retire for the evening, or make the most of the excellent cocktail menu in the Bar Car.

Day Three
Waking for a relaxed breakfast, the Express will arrive in Bangkok mid-morning, leaving you free to explore the enchanting streets of the Thai capital at your own pace.
